Religious Education
At Beckfoot Nessfield we follow the Discovery RE programme which is an enquiry approach to Religious Education.
Our belief is that, using an enquiry-based model well, children’s critical thinking skills can be developed, their motivation to learn increased, and their knowledge and understanding of, and empathy with people and their beliefs, religious or otherwise, will be enhanced. This approach takes very seriously the philosophy that children are free to make their own choices and decisions concerning religion and beliefs.
RE does not try to persuade but informs and helps children develop the skills to evaluate in a thoughtful and creative way within the classroom.
We also work with Bradford Local Authority to arrange visits to places of worship in our local area to give the children first-hand experiences and to contextualise their learning. With current COVID19 restrictions, these visits are taking place remotely.
