Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Creating Remarkable Nurseries

We currently have morning and afternoon Nursery sessions available for children once they turn 3 years old. Morning sessions run from 8.45 to 11.45am whilst afternoons are 12.30 to 3.30pm. This gives our youngest children 15hrs of provision across the week. We also offer 30hrs provision for those families that qualify for funding. a 30hr place would consist of full days Monday to Thursday and a half day on Friday. Please contact Miss Hollings, Nursery teacher, via the school office for more information. If you need a more flexible weekly offer or 'top up sessions' please contact us.

In Nursery we offer a high quality, nurturing learning environment in which children thrive. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and our skilled practitioners support them in fulfilling their full potential by building strong relationships with each individual and their family. We ensure the children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. Every child is unique and is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Children leave Nursery 'school ready' with the majority of children staying with us into full time school. They enter their Reception classes with a broad range of skills and knowledge that provide the foundations for good future progress through school and life.

Our Nursery education focuses on the three prime areas of the Early Years curriculum which are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving. These prime areas are:

  • Communication and language development: involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations
  • Physical development: involves providing opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement. Children must also be helped to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy choices in relation to food
  • Personal, social and emotional development: involves helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; to form positive relationships and develop respect for others; to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; and to have confidence in their own abilities

All children learn and develop from different starting points and at their own unique pace. Staff are skilled in supporting the development of children in these three prime areas through observational assessment and by working in partnership with families. Working together enables all children to make progress and thrive. If you would like to visit our Nursery setting and speak to the staff, do not hesitate to contact us.
