Behaviour
Our School Rules
Always follow an instruction from an adult in school
Always keep your body and objects to yourself
Always be kind and polite to others
Good behaviour is held in high esteem by all members of our school community. All staff overtly and consistently reward and promote good behaviour at all times. Children need to know they have been successful. We nurture all our children as we recognise that improved self-esteem leads to improved behaviour. Praise and positive reinforcement is more effective than punishment. The Beckfoot Trust Behaviour Policy is followed in school through the Beckfoot Nessfield Positive Behaviour Protocol.

Good to Be Green:
Each day is a fresh start: children start on green on the class behaviour chart each morning. When children have been exceptional they will be rewarded a Good to Be Gold award on their Good to Be Green class chart to reinforce exceptional behaviour to their peers.
Class Dojo:
Children will also be rewarded Class Dojo points to reinforce good behaviour. Points are rewarded when children demonstrate positive learning behaviours and consistently follow the school rules, Parents and families can download the Class Dojo app to keep track of their child's successes. Just ask your child's class teacher or contact the school office for a login.
Restorative Conversations:
Whenever there has been an incident where one of the school rules has been broken, we encourage the children to talk about their feelings as soon as enough time has passed. Often, children need time to calm and reflect and are not ready to talk. After this cooling off period, it is important that, through restorative conversations, children take responsibility for their actions and steps are put in place for restoration. This could be writing an apology letter, doing jobs in the classroom, saying sorry, fixing something that got broken. We aim to encourage independence and self-discipline so that each child learns to accept responsibility for their own behaviour.
Anti Bullying
At Beckfoot Nessfield Primary & Nursery School we are determined to provide our pupils with a safe, secure and happy environment in which to learn. We expect high standards of behaviour and do our best to encourage our pupils to develop into responsible and valued members of the community.
What is bullying?
Bullying is:
- deliberately hurtful behaviour,
- repeated often over a period of time,
- difficult for those being bullied to defend themselves against.
It usually takes one of four forms:
- Physical e.g. hitting, fighting, taking belongings
- Verbal e.g. name-calling, insulting remarks, racist comments
- Indirect e.g. rumour-mongering, excluding someone from social groups
- Cyber-bullying e.g. texting, use of websites etc
This type of behaviour is contrary to the ethos of our school. In partnership with parents, we aim to raise awareness and prevent such behaviour. We follow our Beckfoot Nessfield Anti Bullying Protocol to tackle all incidents and prevent all forms of bullying in school.
