Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Holly

WELCOME 3

Welcome to Holly class:

Teacher: Miss Headley

Support: Mrs Lannan and Miss Harrison

PE days:

Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays. On these days, the children need to arrive at school wearing their outdoor PE kit (tracksuit) and make sure they are wearing their trainers. We will be doing our lessons outside, whatever the weather. Make sure your child has a waterproof coat as this will keep them warm and dry.

Reading expectations:

  • We are reading with the children and will be giving them reading books to match the level they are at.
  • We will be sending books home on a Monday and Wednesday. Please make sure they have this in school with them so we can change the books. We have a quarantine system in place where the books are stored for 72 hours before we re-issue to the children.
  • Your child might be sent home with a book that you think is too easy. We will be Benchmarking the children but at the moment please read the books that are being sent home. Ask your child questions and ask them to summarise what they have read. In class we are doing lots of modelling of how to add expression when reading aloud; ask the children to demonstrate this to you!

Times tables and Spellings:

The children have been taking part in Times Table Rock Star challenges in class and this is something that they can also access at home. Login and password details will be sent on Class Dojo for you.

Spelling Shed is another interactive website perfect for your child to rehearse spelling patterns and rules. We will also send these login details to you and make sure that the children have seen how the websites work in class so they know what to do at home.

Star of the week:

Our certificates continue to be handed out on a Friday morning in class on our Zoom celebration assembly within Phase 2 (Years 3 and 4). This allows the children to celebrate the success of their peers in other classes and for Phase 2 staff to share why the child has been chosen for that week.

Class Dojo:

This is the way that we are communicating between home and school at the moment. If you have not yet signed up please do so.

Staff will reply as soon as they are able to during any breaks they have during the day or after school. We are currently trialling the portfolio section as this will be how work can be set and then returned should our bubbles need to close at any point.

If there is something urgent that we need to know or there is a change of collection at the end of the day, please phone the office as they will let us know in class.
